The short version: TankLog stores your aquarium data on your device. We don't run servers, we don't have user accounts, we don't use analytics or advertising trackers, and your photos never leave your phone. We couldn't sell your data even if we wanted to — we never receive it.
TankLog ("we", "our") is an iOS app for tracking reef aquariums — water parameters, livestock, dosing, and maintenance reminders. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it lives.
Everything you put into TankLog is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad in the app's private database:
None of this is transmitted to us or to any third party. Deleting the app deletes this data. Your device's standard iCloud or local backup may include the app's data, under the terms of Apple's Privacy Policy.
TankLog asks for camera and photo library access only when you use them — to photograph or pick a photo of a fish, coral, or invertebrate. Species recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. Photos are analyzed locally, saved locally with your records, and never uploaded anywhere.
Maintenance reminders use local notifications scheduled on your device. No push-notification server is involved, and reminder content is not shared.
TankLog Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Your subscription status is verified on-device through Apple's StoreKit. Purchases are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Product suggestions in the dosing calculator may link to third-party retailer websites, and some of those links may include an affiliate or referral tag. Opening a link takes you to the retailer's site, which operates under its own privacy policy. TankLog sends no personal data with these links, and a count of link taps is kept only on your device.
CSV exports, PDF reports, and shareable timeline images are generated on your device and shared only when and where you choose via the iOS share sheet. We have no access to anything you export.
TankLog contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no trackers. We do not collect usage data, device identifiers, or location data.
TankLog is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children.
If a future version of TankLog adds features that change how data is handled (for example, optional iCloud sync for subscribers), we will update this policy and the "Effective" date above before the feature ships.
